Result of the seventy first evaluation of the prevention measures

Against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)

The seventy first evaluation of the prevention measures against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) according to the Circular Letter of Minister of Agriculture No. TN.510/94/A/IV/2001 concerning prevention measures against FMD, and based on the last weekly report of Office International des Epizooties (OIE) dated on 16 January 2004 it can be concluded that:

 

1.         FMD infected countries

 

1.1        Tajikistan is categorized as country having outbreak of FMD based on report in the OIE Weekly Report on Disease Information dated 2

            January 2004.

1.2       To the above country, importation of certain products is totally banned as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No.

            510/94/A/IV/2001 dated 20 April 2001 point IIA.

 

2.         FMD endemic countries

 

2.1       Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, the Palestinian Autonomous Territories, Mozambique, Venezuela, Syria, Botswana, Eritrea, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Malawi, Libya, Paraguay, South Africa, Argentina and Bolivia are still categorized as FMD endemic countries as stated previously in the seventy evaluation;

2.2       To those countries, a temporary import ban of certain products has to be implemented as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No. TN.510/94/A/IV/2001 dated 20 April 2001 point II B.

 

3.         FMD free countries

 

3.1       Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Sweden, Spain, Greece, Portugal, the Netherlands, France, Rep. of Ireland and the United Kingdom are still categorized as FMD free country as stated previously in the seventy evaluation;

3.2       To those countries, importation of commodities could be allowed based on the current technical requirements.

 

Note : - List of FMD free country as stated in OIE Resolution No. XX in 2003 : Albania, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Rep., Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, Former Yug. Rep. of Macedonia, France, Germany, Guatemala, Guyana, Greece, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea (Rep. of), Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States of America, Vanuatu.

           - Country not listed above is categorized as endemic or having outbreak of FMD.
