The
seventh evaluation of the prevention measures against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)
according to the Circular Letter of Minister of Agriculture No.
TN.510/94/A/IV/2001 concerning prevention measures against FMD, and based on the
last weekly report of Office International des Epizooties (OIE) dated on 27 July
2001 it can be concluded that :
1.
FMD infected countries
1.1
Malaysia and Turkey are still categorized as having outbreaks of FMD as
determined in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No.
TN.510/215/A/VII/2001 dated 13 July 2001 concerning prevention measures against
FMD;
1.2
To those countries, importation of certain products are still remain
totally banned as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture
No. TN.510/94/A/IV/2001 dated 20 April 2001 point II A.
2.
FMD endemic countries
2.1
Uruguay was
able to control the outbreak of FMD since the last reported case on 22 June 2001
as well as Argentina where the last reported case was on 29 June 2001 and
therefore, those two countries are categorized as endemic countries;
2.2 France,
Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, Peru, United Kingdom and Brazil are still
categorized as FMD endemic countries as stated previously in the sixth
evaluation;
2.2
To those countries, a temporary import ban of certain products have to be
implemented as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No.
TN.510/94/A/IV/2001 dated 20 April 2001 point II B.
3.
FMD free countries
3.1
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Sweden,
Spain, Greece and Portugal are still categorized as FMD free country as stated
previously in the sixth evaluation;
3.2
To those countries, importation of commodities could be allowed based on
the current technical requirements.
