Result of the fourth evaluation of the prevention measures
against  Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)

1.         FMD infected countries 

Based on the last weekly report of Office International des Epizooties (OIE) dated on 8 June 2001, the outbreak of FMD so far are still occurred in the United Kingdom, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.  It is therefore, importation of certain products from those countries are still remain totally banned as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No. TN.510/94/A/IV/2001 dated 20 April 2001 point II A. 

2.         FMD endemic countries 

France, Republic of Ireland, Peru and the Netherlands have been controlled the outbreak of FMD and are categorized as endemic countries in which a temporary import ban of certain products have to be implemented to those countries as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No. TN.510/94/A/IV/2001 dated 20 April 2001 point II B. 

3.         FMD free countries 

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Sweden, Spain, Greece and Portugal are categorized as FMD free countries so that importation of commodities from those countries will be allowed based on the current technical requirements. 

4.         Correction and revision of the third evaluation 

1)       In relation with (v) sign stated in the table of types of commodities in the third evaluation which is allowed to be imported with requirements, correction has been made as follows :

In the fourth evaluation, type of commodity no. 26 is divided into 2 (two) parts : (a) Containing ruminants and pigs origin, and (b) Not containing ruminants and pigs origin.  Whereas type of commodity no. 30, drugs and animal drugs containing ruminants and pigs origin, is also divided into 2 (two) parts : (a) natural, and (b) sinthetic. 

2)  In order to obtain better understanding on the fourth evaluation, a revision is done by changing the existing (x) and (v) signs stated in the table of type of commodities in the third evaluation to be as follows :
