Informasi Foot and Mouth Desease (FMD)

Result of the third evaluation of the prevention measures
against  Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)

1.         FMD Infected countries       

The outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease/FMD so far are still occured in  countries such as  the United Kingdom,  Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil.  It is therefore, importation of certain  products from  those countries are still remain  totaly banned as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of  Agriculture No. 510/94/A/IV/2001 dated on April 20, 2001 point II A. 

2.         FMD Endemic countries  

Based on the latest report of Office International des Epizooties (OIE), it was noted  that  Netherland  was able  to control the disease since the last outbreak on April 22, 2001. Therefore, countries such as France, Republic of Ireland, Peru and Netherland are categorized as endemic countries in which a temporary import ban of certain products have to be implemented  to  those  countries as stated in the Circular  Letter of  the Minister of Agriculture No. 510/94/A/IV/2001 dated on April 20, 2001 point II B. 

3.         FMD free countries  

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany,  Luxemburg, Sweden, Greece and Portugal are categorized as FMD free countries so that  importation of commodities from those countries will be allowed based on the current technical requirements.
