Result of the second evaluation of the prevention measures
against Food and Mouth Disease/FMD

1.         FMD Infected countries  

             Based on the latest report of the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) it was reported that an outbreak occurred in Brazil on May 5, 2001 in the province of Santana and therefore, a total import ban of certain products is implemented to this country as stated  in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No. 510/94/A/IV/2001 dated on April 20, 2001 point II A. FMD outbreak so far are still occurred in countries such as the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Argentina and Uruguay and thus importation of certain products  from those countries are still remain totally banned.  

2.         FMD Endemic countries        

France, Republic of Ireland and Peru are categorized as endemic countries in which a temporary import  ban have  to  be implemented  to  those countries as stated in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Agriculture No. 510/94/A/IV/2001 dated on April  20, 2001 point II B.  

3.         FMD Free countries                  

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany, Luxemburg, Sweden, Spain, Greece and Portugal are categorized as FMD free countries so that importation of commodities from those countries will be allowed based on the current technical requirements.
